-SWIM IN THE FAST LANE

  • Lothian Leagues Finals - Sat Jun 2 @ Prestonpans

Great day of swimming in a very hot swimming pool. The morning saw our younger swimmers doing very well with great PB's from Anna Campbell in her 200 free and Ellis Anderson in his 50 fly. Thanks to our polo players Jamie Regan and Michael Long for their swims and well done to a very enthusiastic Julian Szypulski on his first gala.

Our older swimmers had a fantastic afternoon. The 12/13 year old girls Molly, Robyn, Isla and Grace were victims of their own amazing success by all swimming too fast and obtaining fantastic PB's which exceeded the time bands leaving them too fast for the team gold medal!

Our 14 plus girls Niamh, Emmeline, Louise and Megan McI won an incredibly exciting relay and walked away as second top team overall with silver medals. Our relay team Louise, Niamh, Rory C and Miko took gold medals for top mixed relay team overall. Finally commiserations to our 14 plus boys who despite being clearly the best boys in the pool (by miles in the relay) missed out on their well deserved gold medals through a little DQ in the relay!

  • Hearts Novice Gala - Sun May 13 @ Prestonpans

Fabulous day for our younger cohorts. 8 swimmers and PB’s galore with a stack of medals thrown in for good measure!

Daniel N was top dog with gold in the butterfly, silver in backstroke and bronze in both the breast and free. Daniel C wasn’t far behind with gold in the butterfly and silver in breast and free.

Leon and Ellis destroyed previous best times and the girls - Caitlin, Gracie, Ellie and Naomi all bagged healthy times and best swims!

    Well done all!!
  • Haddington Total Swimmer - Sat May 12 @ Prestonpans

Great day at the Haddington Total Swimmer meet - everyone swam all five events and we had some excellent PBS. In fact, Katie G had a clean sweep with 5 new sc PBs. Harry M wasn't far behind, with 4 new PBs. Harry was very unlucky not to make the grand finals - he finished equal 6th in his age group and only missed the final on count back (they used the 100m IM results to decide the finalists).

At the end of a very good day we had just one Porty swimmer in the finals as Megan McI was in the 15+ girls final. Not only in the final but on the podium as she finished 3rd to win the bronze and a cash prize.

  • Coverdale Novice League - Fri Sep 22 @ Haddington

First round of the Novice league in the new season, as usual started at Haddington. And as usual, we had some swimmers in their first ever gala so well done to Finlay, Aleyna and Mert who all competed really well

There were also some great PBs in various events, from Aoife-Rosa, Daniel, Harry, Neve, Eilidh, Robyn D, Rosie, Caitlin and Georgie. .

The evening was more evenly balance than the past few years and though we finished in 3rd place, we were only a couple of points behind 2nd and Tranent only have a 20 point lead.

  • Morpeth Annual Gala - Sun Sep 10 @ Morpeth

Our bi-annual trip to Morpeth was a great day out only slightly spoilt by the result! We had a good turn-out of swimmers, other than the 9/10 boys where we only had two swimmers when we needed four.

Our 11/12 girls were our strongest team and the 15+ boys team produced the most exciting relays (winning one and losing one, each by less than ¼ sec).

In the end we lost by around 80 points so we’ll need to work hard for next year’s return match.
