SwimCoachWard YouTube site is close to 2,000 views. Great to see so many people checking out the Drills n Skills that make up a major part of my Top Squad program and that have now found there way into all squads here at PASC.
The site has been a great tool for sharing my thoughts and ideas on good swimming practice and some funnies too, I hope to add more to the site this summer, so watch this space for more information.

Let's see if we can bump it past the 2,000 mark, go check it out...

Porty Tri-Athletes kick start season with positive results.

Congractulations to Andrew Christy for his PB time of 15:28 at the 5k (running) event in Silverknowes last night.
Like to wish him all the best at the British Aquathlon Championships this weekend, taking place in the West Midlands.

Would also like to congratulate Abby Aitken (Abz) for winning the Bishopbriggs Triathlon last weekend.

Well done to both of you, looking forward to the rest of the Triathlon season.

The 'Pocket Rocket' launches into No.1 in Scottish rankings.

Ellie Gallacher fires into the top spot in the Scottish Rankings (13 & 14 yr old) for 50 FC with an impressive lead off at the RCP relay event on Sunday. The 'Pocket Rocket' is the third Porty swimmer this season to hit the dizzy heights at the top of the Scottish rankings; a huge achievement for Ellie and the rest of the club.

Livingston District Dolphins Graded Meet

Kitty Slater smashes 100m Fly PB by 6 seconds and dominates both the heats and final at LLD meet at the weekend (race of the day). Loads of other pb's from both Top and Intermediate squad swimmers and to finish the meet the Portobello relay teams finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd all finishing within 3 seconds of each other. Great racing and well done to everyone!

Hy-Tek Issues Resolved

Finally, after an extended period, I think think that we have overcome the technical issues that have interrupted the flow of information about galas and results. Thanks to Deji, the Hy Tek support team and some assistance from East District officials we now have Hy Tek working again and the calender on the website has been updated again. I'll try to keep these updated on a very regular basis and of course Darren's blog is a must read on the Club site.

The calender will have dates, venue and warm-up time for future galas (though my timing is poor as we are nearing the end of the season) and Hy Tek has all results for all swimmers. For those who haven't used it before, just click on the link on the swimming page on the Club site. Once in the Hy Tek site, click on 'Athletes' and then click 'results' beside your name. You then need to change the course dropdown box to SCM (short course metres) as the site is American and the default setting is yards. Also, if you change the 'fastest' box to all then it will display all reults (rather than just your fastest time for each event). The online database stores LC and SC separately so if you are looking for LC times then you need to select that from the dropdown box. Another point worth noting is that in 'entries' you will see details of who is swimming in future galas (once I have that information). If there are relays, they can be accessed from the 'relays' button on that entries page.

Ciaran McGeever on form @ UK School Games

Ciaran McGeever recorded a split time of 55.57 for his 100FC in the 4 x 100 Free relay @ the UK School Games in London.
Competing for Scotland:East/South Ciaran had the privilege of anchoring his relay team inside the 2012 London Olympic Pool, a great experiance indeed.

Ciaran who has had the added bonus of sitting one of his standard grade exams in London was thrilled with his swim and is looking forward to building upon this swim at the upcoming East Districts and Scottish Nationals.

Great Work Ciaran!!
