A small group of swimmers travelled to Fife for the Carnegie So Long Meet. Rory and Ollie both gained fantastic 7 seconds PBs in their 200m freestyle events with Ollie's result placing him fourth among the 13/14 boys and he put in another solid performance in the 1500m taking 6 seconds off his seed time. Day one also saw personal bests in the girls 400 freestyle with a 3 second improvement for Gigi and 1.5 seconds off for Anna. There were more PBs on Sunday. Gigi cut 9 seconds off her 400IM time and Hugh sliced more than two seconds off in the 200IM. Anna, Helen and Dennis put in strong swims in the 800m with Dennis taking the bronze medal in his age group

Porty swimmers put in some excellent performances at the Midlothian Spring Meet at Prestonpans with a string of great PBs and a number of top six placings.

There were medals for Gigi and Kitty who came second and third in their age group in the 100 IM and 100m fly, respectively. Gigi also took fourth place in the 100m freestyle and was one of four swimmers who won a top six place in their age group in the 200m breaststroke. Helen took fourth place in her event while Archie and Sophie came fifth in theirs and also picked up commemorative pens in the 100m breaststroke (5th place for Archie and 6th for Sophie). Miko secured sixth place in the 100 IM and knocked almost six seconds off his previous 100m fly time.

Overall we notched up 24 PBs over the weekend with four swimmers improving their previous times by more than six seconds - Rory C (200m back), Gigi (400 IM), Archie (100m breast) and Niamh (100m free).

There were some great swims from Dennis who shaved more than five seconds off in the boys 100m freestyle and it was a good weekend for the Vickerstaffs with Rory beating his 200m backstroke seed time by over four seconds. Emmeline, who made a similar improvement on her 100m IM time, put in some gutsy swims after losing her goggles part way through two races.
